Lay down a base first

Round baubles in two or three colours do most of the work. Hang them evenly, with some tucked towards the trunk, so the tree looks full when you walk past it from any angle.

Put your favourites where they’ll be noticed

Save hearts, animal ornaments and anything sentimental for eye level and the front of the tree. Hang heavier pieces on the thicker branches so they don’t droop.

Buy in multiples

A tree swallows more ornaments than most people expect. Repeating the same design a few times looks intentional and makes the whole tree feel finished.

Give one as a gift
