Finished in a black polyurethane lacquer, this Bastion Dining Chair provides a darker anchor around a dining table, which works particularly well with pale or timber tabletops. The lacquer is harder wearing than standard paint, an advantage on chairs that get pulled in and out daily. Its elm wood frame holds a natural brown rattan seat, so the woven texture still brings warmth despite the dark frame. Rattan stays breathable through long meals, which fabric seats do not always manage. The chair arrives fully assembled, requiring nothing more than unpacking before it goes around the table.

Product Care
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a clean cloth.
- Occasional application of a natural-based furniture polish is recommended.
- Do not use silicone-based products or other abrasive cleaners.
- Because of the natural movement of the timber, it must be expected that the wood will slightly change shape due to variations in humidity and temperature, depending on the conditions of your home.
- Therefore, care should be taken to avoid extreme heat conditions, moisture, and light, as this can cause the wood to swell, shrink or start to show signs of cracking.
- We recommend the use of the Guardsman Wood Care kits, to help maintain the beautiful appearance of the timber for longer
- For everyday cleaning, wipe clean with a damp micro fibre cloth and dry with a clean cloth.
- Care should be taken not to get the rattan too wet, if this happens allow it to dry in direct sunlight and take care not to bend or move the cane until it is completely dry to ensure it retains its shape.
- Avoid positioning your Rattan furniture in direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can cause the rattan to dry out and split. If the Rattan has started to split due to it drying out, a boiled linseed oil solution can be used to nourish the cane and to avoid any further splitting.
- Rattan can also fade in strong light, which is a natural process. We recommend rotating your furniture to ensure even fading.
- Keep Rattan furniture away from direct heat sources which can also cause it to warp and dry out.
- Occasional application of a natural-based furniture polish can be used.
- Do not use silicone-based products or other abrasive cleaners.
- If Mildew or mould appears, this can be treated by using a strong bleach solution to the affected area only, the allow to dry outside in direct sunlight.
Returns Policy
We understand the importance of customer satisfaction and therefore products may at ESR NZ discretion be returned to us for exchange for a store credit note within seven (7) days of full payment and collection/delivery of the goods, provided all the following conditions are met:
- A receipt as proof of purchase of ownership may be required by ESR NZ to be produced.
- Returned goods are received in a re-saleable condition, including any packaging if possible
- Goods are returned to the location they were originally purchased from or an alternative pre-arranged location.
For Online and store purchases not viewed in a showroom prior to delivery, they can be returned for a full refund (less any delivery cost) within 7 days of receiving/collecting the product/s. The above conditions will still need to be met.
