A darker bench for everyday cooking.
Choosing granite over timber changes both the look and the way you use an island bench, giving a harder, cooler surface that suits pastry work and heavy prep. The Chelsea Kitchen Island Bench with Granite Top pairs a jet black granite countertop with the same painted white frame of oak veneer, new pine and MDF. The lipped edge is designed so breakfast stools sit underneath, making the bench somewhere to eat as well as work. Storage below handles pots, pans and everyday kitchen items. The top is supplied separate from the base and attaches during assembly. A timber top version is available.

Additional information
Product Care
- Granite is porous and stains easily, so wipe off any spills immediately.
- Clean the surface regularly with fresh warm water and a non-abrasive clean cloth.;
- A non-abrasive, neutral (pHbalanced) cleaner will help remove dirt and grime, but is recommended that you first try warm water only, then use a cleaner only if necessary.
- The granite top has been sealed as part of the manufacturing process. The sealer acts as an inhibitor and prevents most stains and soil from being absorbed into the porous surface, but it is not a guarantee against staining. All spills should be cleaned immediately.
- We recommend customers re-seal the granite top every year with a good quality granite sealer. Follow the instructions on the sealer container for application and frequency of use.
- If the granite is well-sealed, the warm water and non-abrasive cloth should keep it clean.
- To protect the surface, avoid contact with all oils and petroleum-based products. Also avoid contact with all acid or caustic products, such as vinegar, citrus or fruit juices, soda, chlorine, and nail polish remover.
- Placing protective pads on the bottom of any heavy objects will help prevent scratching of the granite surface. Periodically rotate accessories on granite so that they don't sit in the same spot for an extended period of time.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a clean cloth.
- Occasional application of a natural-based furniture polish is recommended.
- Do not use silicone-based products or other abrasive cleaners.
- Because of the natural movement of the timber, it must be expected that the wood will slightly change shape due to variations in humidity and temperature, depending on the conditions of your home.
- Therefore, care should be taken to avoid extreme heat conditions, moisture, and light, as this can cause the wood to swell, shrink or start to show signs of cracking.
- We recommend the use of the Guardsman Wood Care kits, to help maintain the beautiful appearance of the timber for longer
Assembly
The heart of your home is nearly ready, once you've got it all asembled. Assembly ranges from something as easy as attaching the handles, through to flat-pack assembly, which takes a little longer.
